About you
Your work matters to you and you care deeply about places and people. You are purpose and values driven and there’s nothing you want more in life than to get your ideas into the world to have a positive impact on others and your community.
And you have seriously brilliant ideas.
Oh, that buzz when your creativity calls! Every cell in your body tingles with excitement when the ideas start flowing and you start doing. You summon the courage to put your self out there…
Whether it’s a rejection letter, less than perfect feedback or no feedback at all, it fuels a deep, uneasy feeling you can’t quite label and you begin to retreat.
There goes that pesky voice that tells you you’re not good enough, not confident enough, not knowledgeable enough, not unique enough, not savvy enough, not motivated enough.
You know it’s just your inner critic messing with you. You know if you could be kinder to yourself and apply that laser focus that’s deep within, you would be on fire!
But that voice in your head is so convincing.
Sometimes you wonder why you ever thought you could do this in a world full of impossible obstacles for anyone going against the grain.
Following your creative path is an expedition like no other.
Your head and gut tug in opposite directions leaving you confused about your next step as your confidence slowly seeps away.
And it’s just so damn hard to focus when you have nine million ideas and no one around you quite gets your agony or why you’re bothering.
Those creative habits everyone else swears by just don’t work for you.
Not to mention all the other life stuff that saps your limited time and energy.
I get it.
As a writer, I’m very familiar with the extraordinary rollercoaster journey that comes with being creative.
I’ve been caught in the sea of too many ideas, stuck in the messy middle, felt disconnected and been battered by waves of rejection, self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
I’ve asked myself ‘Is this worth it?’ many times.
Yes, yes it is! Because the alternative is a life without meaning, and a constant niggle that there’s a space inside you that needs filling.
It takes grit, stamina and a tonne of resilience to build this life. It requires digging deep, excavating those parts of you that have never been exposed and finding a new confidence in yourself.
It’s shit-scary stuff but you don’t have to do it alone and you don’t have to stick to anyone else’s way of doing it either.
I’m here to help you build confidence, take action and make it damn-well happen.
I’m here to give you a little kick up the ass if that’s what you need. And I’ll show you how to do a self-kick up the ass too!
But I’m also here for that bit in between where you need that space to figure it all out.
Sometimes it’s not about taking action, but stepping back, reconnecting with yourself and the world you inhabit and seeing how you are part of something bigger, something incredible, something far more empowering than the traditional model of attainment and success.
The world needs you and your ideas so let’s get them out there!
